The 1st of Aug. is Switzerlands national day of celebration, special buns with the flag cross are baked. I read yesterday that this bun tradition started in 1959, the dough is normally a slightly rich configuration containing milk, butter, a little sugar and possible egg. The flag cross design is snipped out with scissors. At the risk of being booted out of the country, i've made a massive departure from tradition here and employed the TangZhong method (10% of the flour + 5 times it's water was heated to 65C the evening before) I'm going to claim these to be the world premier TangZhong method 1st of August Weggen buns.
Tonight and tommorrow night there will be a huge cloud of fireworks smoke over Switzerland, visible even on satellite images, it's going to get loud. cheers..Bang!
